PH Unveils Election Manifesto in Johor

Pakatan Harapan (PH) will unveil its manifesto for the 16th Johor state election tomorrow, presenting a development plan based on voter research.

PH promises to close development gaps across Johor districts

Johor PKR chairman Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa said the upcoming document will focus on narrowing disparity between districts, raising living standards and outlining a clear path to boost the state’s economy.

In an audio broadcast shared on her Facebook page, she emphasized that the proposals are grounded in research. “God willing, the offers we have (in the manifesto) are offers that we have researched and we have the basis that these (offers) are the needs of the people,” she said.

The plan targets the “JB‑centric” concentration of economic activity, which leaves many areas under‑served. She highlighted the northern district of Segamat, which includes the Labis, Sekijang and Segamat parliamentary seats, as having untapped potential but lacking modern commercial infrastructure such as hypermarkets and high‑class hotels to support nearby universities.

Other districts—Tanjung Piai, Pontian, Simpang Renggam and Mersing—also experience shortfalls in commercial facilities, according to the PKR leader.

Dr Zaliha, who also serves as the Member of Parliament for Sekijang, pointed to PH’s track record in the federal government as evidence that the manifesto’s promises are achievable. “I was in the Cabinet and we monitored one by one the manifestos promised by the component parties. Alhamdulillah, the results of the monitoring showed that almost all the promises in the PH manifesto were successfully fulfilled,” she said.

The three‑and‑half‑year period under PH governance demonstrated that many initiatives can be realized, suggesting the state‑level agenda is similarly attainable.

Election timing: the Johor poll is scheduled for July 11, with early voting on July 7.

The manifesto will be released through the Secawan Teh Tarik podcast, a platform the party has used to reach voters directly.

Observers expect the document to shape campaigning in the final week before polling day.
