Nvidia’s DSX Ready program has gained two new members, LG Electronics and LG Energy Solution, whose cooling and battery storage solutions have met the necessary requirements for AI infrastructure. On Tuesday, the companies announced that their products align with Nvidia’s DSX AI factory reference designs, which emphasize the importance of power and cooling infrastructure as data centers expand and become more power-hungry.
Compliance with Nvidia’s Requirements
The DSX Ready program, launched by Nvidia, is a qualification initiative for products that satisfy the specifications of its DSX AI factory reference designs. Initially, the program focuses on power and cooling infrastructure, areas of growing concern as AI data centers increase in size and power consumption. LG Energy Solution’s JF2 AC Link, which utilizes lithium iron phosphate batteries, is designed to provide high energy efficiency and a long lifespan, making it an attractive option for data centers.
LG Electronics’ 2.5-megawatt coolant distribution unit has also been qualified as a DSX Ready CDU, suitable for high-density AI data centers where powerful chips generate significant heat. This unit is designed for in-row cooling configurations, where multiple server racks are grouped together and cooled through a high-capacity CDU. As data centers shift towards larger cooling systems, LG Electronics’ CDU is well-positioned to meet this demand.
In-row cooling configurations are becoming increasingly popular as power density per rack rises, driving the need for more efficient cooling solutions. LG Electronics’ 2.5-megawatt CDU has met Nvidia’s additional DSX Ready requirements, expanding the company’s portfolio of large-scale liquid cooling solutions. Previously, the company received Nvidia specification approvals for its 600-kilowatt and 1 MW CDU models in July and September, respectively.
Expansion in North America
LG Energy Solution is increasing its energy storage system production capacity in North America to meet the growing demand from AI data centers. The company currently operates five production sites in the region, including facilities in Michigan, Ontario, Tennessee, and Ohio. By the end of the year, LG Energy Solution aims to secure over 50 gigawatt-hours of ESS production capacity in North America, targeting the region’s burgeoning AI data center market.
Qualifications for Power and Cooling Infrastructure
Nvidia launched the DSX Ready program to qualify partner products that meet the requirements of its AI factory reference designs. The initial focus covers power and cooling infrastructure, which are becoming increasingly critical as data centers grow larger and more power-intensive.
